GENESEO – The SUNY Geneseo women’s basketball team left the court with a victory over SUNY Potsdam on Saturday, their first game since the tragic events of Sunday, Jun. 17.
The final score was 75-32. Members of the College and Village are taking to social media to share condolences and thoughts for SUNY Geneseo students Kelsey Annese, basketball player #32, and Matthew Hutchinson, hockey player #23, who both lost their lives on Jan. 17 at 18 Wadsworth Street.
“It’s not a coincidence that we held Potsdam to 32 points tonight and it’s not a coincidence that the shots on goal at the Geneseo Ice Knights game at one point was 32-23 and that their total shot differential was 23,” posted SUNY Geneseo Women’s Basketball to Facebook. “They are little signs that remind us that Kelsey and Matt are still with us.”
Annese’s teammates took to Facebook before the game to say, “We play for you, #32!”
The men’s hockey team were also victorious Saturday night with a 6-1 victory over SUNY Cortland.
