SUNY Geneseo Track and Field Stuns Record Books At Bucknell

BUCKNELL PA — The SUNY Geneseo Track and Field team turned in some stellar performances at Bucknell University this weekend, with many individuals securing SUNYAC and ECAC qualifying times.

The meet featured athletes from other divisions, giving Geneseo a chance to test themselves against a different field.

“The meet went really well,” said Assistant Coach Dan Moore. “Isaac broke his own record in the 1500m last night, and Marissa Cossaro is the second female ever in school history to break 17 minutes [in the 5k].”

Isaac Garcia-Cassani, who made a dominant season debut, won the men’s 1500 meter invitational run in a stellar time of 3:44.72. This time also broke his own 1500 meter school record.

The women had an excellent showing in the invitational 5000 meter run, with Marissa Cossaro taking 14th in a time of 16:55.66. Fellow Knight Sara Rosenzweig came in 18th place, with teammate Elise Ramirez coming in 21st.

To cap off the trip, the men and women also broke their own school records in each of their 4×800 meter races.

The women’s invitational 10,000 meter run also had stellar performances, with Kelly Flanagan taking 24th in a time of 36:49.02, and Morgan Meaney taking 35th in a time of 37:52.33. Sam Flood also competed, taking 45th place.

The team will next compete at SUNY Cortland on April 22nd, and 23rd.
