GENESEO — A trio of enterprising techies from SUNY Geneseo have combined their hunger with their computer skills in creating a local ordering system that integrates the community with the college for easy ordering.
Munchful.com is an online food ordering service that has been adopted by several restaurants in the Geneseo area. There are currently four restaurants Main Moon, University Hots and Geneseo Family Restaurant in Geneseo, and Questa Lasagna in Mt. Morris. Patrons are able to order directly from the droid phone and soon to be iphones and pay for the meal as well all with the touch of a few buttons
Users can directly send their orders to restaurants using apps for their Android or Apple device. Customers can also log in to Facebook and save credit card information for future orders.
“We wanted to make food ordering as simple as possible,” said Jamie Mathews, who graduated from SUNY Geneseo in the spring. “We also wanted to make sure that those ordering food could see that days menu and their prices right on their phone.”
In addition they built a social ordering option that allows multiple customers to use their cash or credit cards for the same order, effectively letting the group split the bill with no extra hassle.
“This is a great tool for those eating establishments not on Main street to get a piece of the college action as well.” said Mathews.
The Munchful team in Geneseo consists of Jamie Matthews, Jeff Singer, and Michael Verzillo. Jamie and Jeff created the service during their final semester at Geneseo. Jamie graduated from Geneseo’s School of Business with a major in Business Administration and a minor in Computer Science. Jeff graduated with a double major in Computer Science and Mathematics. Michael is continuing a major Business Administration and is in his senior year.
