Mascot Madness is a five-round tournament to select New York State’s favorite mascot that coincides with the March Madness tournament. The competition is an opportunity for students, alumni, staff, and community friends of every SUNY college to show their school spirit.
“With all of our competitive successes this year, Victor has been particularly busy in rallying our fans,” said Chip Matthews, director of student life and Geneseo’s Mascot Madness liaison. “And now it’s our time for us to support him.”
The five-round tournament is decided by daily voting from students across the SUNY system. After tens of thousands of votes in last year’s competition, SUNY Geneseo was named #1 SUNY Mascot.
“As defending champs, we’re eager to bring the coveted title back to Geneseo, and I encourage everyone to vote,” says Matthews of this year’s tournament. “Victor is keen on being a back-to-back champion!”
Almost 40 mascots from across New York State are in contention this year. The state’s favorite mascot will be chosen at the conclusion of the tournament on April 5.
