GENESEO – We’re not kidding, Lakeville Road’s newest business really did open its doors this April Fool’s Day.
Owner Mariah Ezard got the restaurant up and running in just under 2 months by purchasing all of the equipment from the previous establishment at auction.
“For our regular customers, this is like a second home,” said Ezard. “I was really looking forward to seeing the customers I used to see on a daily basis. I just saw so much potential in this place. I worked at the previous restaurant here for 10 years.”
It has taken a family effort to bring Mae’s to Geneseo in such short order.
“I had the whole family here every day and every night,” said Ezard. “It took a full deep scrub and a little facelift to get it ready. But we made it, and on April Fools. Just in time.”
The focus is fresh, high-quality ingredients that go into house-made meals, from oven-roasted turkey dishes to corned beef and reubens to house-slicced potato chips. Every morning, they will serve locally roasted coffee from Evening Star Coffee Roasters in Avon.
“Everything is prepared in-house,” said Ezard. “We want to serve the previous business’ clientele and gain some more. We’ll keep the house Greek favorites while adding new dishes different from anything else in town. We have 2-ounce sausage links and certified Angus beef ribeye. We have house-made corned beef hash and eggs. The chef, Joe Eyer, just takes such pride in his work and takes the time to send out a great plate every time.”
Regular customers of the previous business came Saturday morning with flowers and well wishes.
“It was sweet of them all, so sweet,” added Ezard. “All of my friends and employees are such an asset. Thank you to all of them and come visit soon.”
