Sixteen years ago, at the start of Genesee Country Christian School, Mrs. Nancy Steltzer joined the staff as the part time music teacher. She taught full time as the third and fourth grade teacher for many years. Most recently, she has spent her time teaching Spanish and Preschool.
Last week, Mrs. Steltzer taught her final classes. She has retired and leaves heavy hearts and many memories behind after her 16 years with Genesee Country Christian School. The students in her “final class” of 4 year olds, completed an amazing project, “Why Mrs. Steltzer is Special”…….. Many of the children wrote about and drew pictures of Mrs. Steltzer with her guitar. A gift that she has been sharing with the students and parents for years.
But according to Mrs. Belinda Murphy, Preschool teacher at GCCS and co worker of Mrs. Steltzer, “She will be back to help us with her musical skills. I (Mrs. Murphy) am learning to play the guitar, but when we will be on stage performing for the parents, Mrs. Steltzer will be right back with us.”
One of the students, Faith, who has been a student of Mrs. Steltzer’s for 2 years, got very excited when her page of the book was shared. According to Faith, Mrs. Steltzer taught her to ride a bike ….. without training wheels ….. at her house. And the excitement and love that filled Faith’s eyes when telling what happened, speaks loudly what type of teacher and person Nancy Steltzer is. She will leave a huge hole in the GCCS community, but the lives she touched are many and the fond memories the children have of their time with Mrs. Steltzer are almost immeasurable. Thank you Mrs. Steltzer for all you have done and the many lives you have touched over the last 16 years. We hope you are blessed by retirement as much as you have blessed those around you.
