MOUNT MORRIS – The Mount Morris Police Department arrested a Rochester resident for allegedly taking a taxi into the Village and breaking into a home early Friday morning.
According to a press release from Mount Morris Police Chief Ken Mignemi, Adalberto Alers Jr., 28, was arrested for misdemeanor Theft of Services, misdemeanor Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree, misdemeanor criminal Trespass in the Second Degree, and misdemeanor Resisting Arrest.
On Jan. 20 at approximately 2:10 a.m., Mount Morris Police Officer Mark Brado responded to a residence on Murray Street for a 911 call reporting a possible theft of services complaint. Upon arrival, witnesses told Brado that Alers had taken a taxi from Rochester to his ex-wife’s residence, exited the taxi without paying and forced his way into his ex-wife’s residence, damaging the doorway.
Brado says that he attempted to make contact with Alers, who allegedly ran into the basement. Brado waited for backup and entered the basement.
Alers allegedly became combative. Brado reports that Alers yelled suicidal remarks and broke a lightbulb over his own head. NYS Trooper John White tased Alers, who pulled the taser wires out before the taser could deliver a shock. Brado then tased Alers, and again he allegedly pulled the wires out. White then tased Alers a third time and reports he was able to get compliance.
The officers then took Alers into custody. Livingston County Deputy Sheriff Brian Mann and New York State Trooper Nelson.
Mount Morris Justice James Lapiana arraigned Alers and ordered him held at the Livingston County Jail on $2,000 cash or $4,000 bond.
Alers is scheduled to return to local court in Mount Morris at a later date.
