Stolen Equipment Leads to Felony Arrest by Sheriff’s Office

 

Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports the arrest of a Wyoming County resident on a felony charge following an investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.  On September 2, 2020 the Sheriff’s Office responded to a business on New Road for a report of
stolen automotive equipment.  It is alleged by the investigation that Thomas A. Barnhardt, age 60 from Castile NY, stole an
electronic automotive scanner valued at approximately $2500.

On December 7, 2020 Sheriff’s Investigator Josh Monster arrested and charged Barnhardt with felony Grand Larceny in the 4th Degree.  Barnhardt was turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for processing and issued an appearance ticket for the charge as the offenses did not qualify for pre-arraignment detention or for bail to be set under the NYS Justice Reform Act.

Deputies did provide Barnhardt a future date court in Leicester Town Court and then set him free
