On January 12, 2022 at approximately 12:07 p.m., members of the Auburn Police Department were dispatched to Key Bank at 355 Genesee Street in the city of Auburn for a report of a bank robbery. The suspect passed a note to the teller demanding money and then fled on foot to a nearby white vehicle that was waiting for him. Information was gathered by responding officers and investigators which include developing leads to possible suspects, the suspect vehicle, and the direction of travel. With the assistance of the New York State Police and the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Department, the suspects were located by troopers driving on Rt. 90 in the village of Aurora and were taken into custody.
Arrested for Robbery 3rd Degree was Johann A. Bass for entering the bank and stealing an undisclosed amount of cash and Elizabeth A. Yoensky for her role as the driver. The defendants were processed and held pending arraignment.
