State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli
LIVINGSTON COUNTY — The annual Livingston County Democrat picnic will have a guest of honor, New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli.
The free Livingston County Democratic picnic will be held at Al Lorenz Park in the Mount Morris Murray Hill Campus on August 25 and will begin at noon with food being served at 1p.m.
“This is a wonderful chance for people to get to meet a dedicated public servant whose job is important to all New Yorkers,” said Judith Hunter, Livingston County Democratic Chair.
Since being in the office since 2007, DiNapoli is responsible for auditing the operations of all New York State agencies and local governments, managing New York State’s pension fund, overseeing the New York State and Local Retirement System, reviewing the State and New York City budgets, approving New York State contracts, administering the State’s payroll and central accounting system, and managing New York State’s unclaimed funds.
According to a press release, DiNapoli is the sole trustee for the $160.4 billion New York State pension fund and has safeguarded the interests of over one million members, retirees and beneficiaries. DiNapoli has imposed tough new rules to prevent improper influence on investment decisions, enhanced public disclosure; and invested millions of dollars in New York companies to grow the State’s economy.
“His presence at our picnic will make a great, fun occasion even more memorable,” said Hunter. “An extremely hard worker, he is also a very friendly guy who really enjoys meeting constituents.”
