SPRINGWATER – At the public hearing concerning the 2019 budget for the Town of Springwater, no one spoke, despite a group of about 25 people in attendance, and the Supervisor asking three times during the course of the ongoing regular meeting if anyone had anything to say. However, the budget for 2019 shows no increase in budget. “Just because we can raise taxes, doesn’t mean we should,” said Supervisor Babbitt, at an earlier meeting.

As long as reassessments are not significantly raised on individual properties, taxpayers can expect about the same town tax bill as for 2018, with a probable property tax increase of less than 2% for county taxes.
At the Nov. 5 meeting, Babbit-Henry said, “I want to keep the taxes flat, with no increase. We have a healthy fund balance of over $400,000 so if here ae a few things we have to absorb, we can do that….”
The board is scheduled to make a motion to approve the budget at the next Springwater Town Board meeting. According to the Springwater Town website, the next board meeting is scheduled for 7pm on Monday, November 19, 2018.
