Danielle Conner-Willowglade, 31, said in court that she then pawned the items, valued at over $3,000. Her attorney, Adrian Burke, said that the root cause of her actions was not a get-rich-quick scheme, but a desperate act in the face of her drug addiction problem.
“The crime that she admitted to this morning is the result of a drug addiction,” said Burke. “She has sought treatment, and I believe that Danielle is on her way to becoming a productive member of society.”
Conner-Willowglade was arrested in March as part of a routine traffic stop on 390 near Geneseo. Her boyfriend, Nicholas Bump, 33, was also charged as an accomplice to the thefts, with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Judge Robert Wiggins accepted her plea and sentenced her to a lenient one month of weekend incarceration at the county jail and five years probation, during which she cannot drink, possess controlled substances or commit any more crimes, or she will be found guilty of a felony violation of probation and sent to state prison.
“I’m hearing great things about your progress as a person,” said Judge Wiggins. “Don’t mess it up.”
