GENESEO — The legendary Inn-Between Tavern, a former popular bar and dance club, is soon to be the home of the sisters of a local sorority. The establishment stopped serving alcohol in August, and has permanently closed for business.
The Inn-Between, or IB as it was affectionately known, closed its doors to patrons for good on September 22, with plans to undergo a massive transformation into the new Sigma Delta Tau (SDT) sorority house. Owner Thomas “Bash” Basher confirmed the plans, stating he will remain active as landlord, making this his second sorority house in addition to the Alpha Omega Pi house on University Drive.
“This is a new chapter for the IB,” said SDT President Courtney Kristan. “While we are sad to see it go, we are excited Bash chose SDT as the sorority to fill it. We are looking forward to having more space at a prime location near campus and Main Street and we hope the Geneseo community welcomes us.”
The house will be home to sixteen sisters next fall, with renovations scheduled to begin this November.
“I’m very excited,” said future resident Aimee Bacher, “It’s really cool to live somewhere that everyone adores so much.”
The broad sign on the side of the barn, once dedicated to promoting drink deals like Hardcore Thursday, now bears a lonely message of gratitude: “Thank You.”
