The Blue Devils walked away with the win 5-2.
“Its super exciting, its huge for the girls, its huge for the program, its huge for Geneseo softball. We just have never been here before,” said Head Coach Chris Masters. “We’ve been close a couple of times, the girls have been a great team for three years coming, we knew last year they were great we just wanted to make sure this year we gave it everything we had.”
The Geneseo Blue Devils move on to the finals looking to win their first ever softball sectional title.
The last few games, the Blue Devils had a tendency of getting the bats going late in the game. Not today. In the first inning, the Devils scored 3 runs, all with two outs.
Stefanie Ledwith lead off the bottom of the 2nd with a triple and later scores on Samarys Gomez’s sacrifice fly. The Blue Devils scored 1 more run in the bottom of the 6th inning to take a 5-0 lead.
The Indians came back and scored 2 runs in the top of the 7th but it wasn’t enough.
The Blue Devils await the winner of the 7 seed Pembroke and the 3 seed Gananda.
