CALEDONIA – The Avon Braves defeated the Caledonia-Mumford Raiders 7-5 for the first time since 2009.
It looked like the streak was going to continue until the top of the 7th when Marisa Rumfola had 2 RBI’s on a triple to tie the game. Emily Raynard would hit a single to bring in Rumfola for the go ahead run.
By the time Cal-Mum got to the plate they were down 7-3 and started their own rally but came up short in the end as a result of Joleigh Crye striking out 3 of the last 4 batters. She would finish with 12 k’s from the circle.
“Give Avon credit they came up with some timely hits in the 7th inning and making 4 errors in the 7th really hurt us as well,” stated Dan Dickens, Raider Head Coach. ” Teams expected to compete for sectional titles can’t strike out 12 times or make that many errors and expect to win.”
