GENESEO — 4 Seed Geneseo Blue Devils defeated the 13 Seed Canisteo-Greenwood Redskins Thursday.
The game was at a stalemate until the top of 4th inning, when the Redskins scored first. At the end of the night, the Blue Devils would walk away with a 5-1 victory.
“Confidence is key moving forward, we need to keep confident in our abilities.” Geneseo’s Head Coach Chris Masters explains. “I thought today the pitcher was pretty good compared to some of the ones in our division this year. She made us work and that was a challenge for us. As we found out how she was pitching we did a better job of scoring some runs and lead to that big inning.”
The Blue Devils stuck back in the bottom of the 4th, tying the game at 1-1. The Blue Devils didn’t stop there as they went on to score four more runs in the bottom of the 5th to take the lead 5-1.
Geneseo’s Jessica Ruskauff was on the mound. She struck out 11 batters, allowing 7 hits and one walk. She also went added 3 hits and one RBI (Runs Batted In).
“I really wasn’t stressed because I knew I had a good defense behind me, our plays that we made were key” Ruskauff as she talks about her teams win.
