GENESEO— Two Livingston County deputies have recently finished training in the use of snowmobiles for law enforcement purposes in the area.
Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty stated in a press release that Deputies William Cartwright and Kevin Barrett completed the New York State Snowmobile Law Enforcement Development School (NYS SLEDS) on February 7th in Old Forge.
The program, which included training in areas such as snowmobile operation, special events permits, and ice rescue, has properly prepared Cartwright and Barrett to use these new skills in Livingston county. The Deputies will use the county’s two snowmobiles to patrol trail systems and respond to incidents that would be inaccessible by ordinary means of transportation during the Winter season.
