GENESEO – The annual National Warplane Museum Airshow featured several new attractions for 2015, including a hovering fighter jet, evening pyrotechnic and airshow, commemorative dinner, lego building, kiddie commando obstacle course, and rock climbing wall.
The show as always offered rides in vintage airplanes, aerobatic lessons, and the chance to be in and around warbirds and airplanes of all kinds.
According to the airshow’s website, the Sea Harrier is a single-seat, single-engine, V/STOL (Vertical, Short Takeoff and Landing) fighter aircraft designed for the British Royal Navy specifically for service aboard their aircraft carriers. On Saturday, the crowd cheered as it made high speed passes and then hovered midair, slowly turning in a circle before blasting off again.
The evening show began at 8 p.m. on Saturday. This year’s airshow is dedicated to first responders, so there was also a commemorative buffet dinner with a cash bar after the evening show.
