CALEDONIA / AVON – Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports the arrest of a Rochester resident and a Palmyra resident on felony and misdemeanor charges following an investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.

On June 13th, 2023 Deputies responded to the Town of Caledonia after receiving a report of two individuals attempting to steal property from a retail business. While enroute, Sheriff’s Deputies learned the subjects fled the scene, and were headed towards the Village of Avon. Deputies then located the vehicle the subjects fled in, subsequently stopping it in the Village of Avon.
Deputies then made contact with the operator, who was identified as 39 year-old Alan G. Jones of Rochester, as well as a passenger who was identified as 27 year old Jennifer N. Gill of Palmyra. Through further investigation, it is alleged that Jones and Gill planned and conspired to steal property from a retail store in Caledonia. The duo then left the store without the property, as they were prevented from doing so by store employees.
As Deputies continued their investigation, they located suspected drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle that Jones and Gill were in. Through the on scene investigation suspected crack cocaine was seized. Jones was arrested and charged with attempted Petit Larceny, Conspiracy in the 6th degree, Felony Tampering with Physical Evidence, and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree. A records check revealed
that his driving privileges in New York State were suspended, resulting in an additional charge of Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the Second Degree, and an additional violation of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law.
Gill was arrested and Charged with attempted Petit Larceny, and Conspiracy in the 6th degree.
