Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports that the Sheriff’s Office has been receiving several complaints in regards to people’s information being used in a scam for Unemployment Benefits.
If you have become the victim of the Unemployment Benefit scam, please contact your local law enforcement agency. You can also go onto the Department of Labor’s Internet site and file a fraud complaint, but also, feel free to contact the Sheriff’s Office and either a Sheriff’s Deputy or your local law enforcement will stop by and create a report to ensure that you are taken care of.
Once we have a report on file, we are also forwarding this information onto the Department of Labor.
For other scam alert information, you can check the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or YouTube page and locate a recent video in regards to other scams and how to protect yourself.
