AVON — A young woman has been arrested and charged with felony identity theft after a string of burglaries in the region.
According to a press release from Livingston County Sheriff Thomas Dougherty, Ashley M. Coen, 26, was charged with Identity Theft in the 3rd Degree (a Class A Misdemeanor) and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 4th Degree (a Class E Felony.)
Coen allegedlyused a stolen credit/debit card at a gas station in Avon where money was taken from an ATM. Dougherty stated that the card had been reported stolen to the Sheriff’s Office by a crime victim who lives on West Lake Road in the Town of Geneseo.
Coen was arraigned by Avon Town Justice Piampiano and remanded to the custody of the Sheriff on $1500 cash bail. Coen is being held in the Livingston County Jail and will return to court for a felony hearing on February 19, 2014 in the Avon Town Court.
Sheriff Dougherty further stated that the arrest is connected with several burglaries that occurred recently around Conesus Lake. Jerrad King was also arrested in connection with the those crimes, and the Sheriff’s Office is working with Deputies in Florida to apprehend a third suspect, Jeremy King, who fled the area.
