GENESEO The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office’s Coalition of Patrol Services (LCCOPS) made Saturday very special for hundreds of kids at Long Point Park.
Deputies, Sergeants and Investigators of the Police Services Bureau of the Sheriff’s Office organized and staffed the event as LCCOPS, their union. LCCOPS used $8,000 to put everything together.

Deputies served popcorn, hot dogs, pizza and ice cream to delighted kids and parents.
There were bounce houses, a mechanical bull, a petting zoo, DJ, photo booth, and plenty of food for all.
The Sheriff’s Office’s new SWAT vehicle was there and kids got to climb inside and sit in the driver’s seat.
COPS for Kids Day is an annual event with its roots in 1959, when The Livingston County Deputy Sheriffs Association first hosted an annual ‘Kiddies Day’ at Long Point.
Though the event was discontinued in the 1970’s, LC COPS brought back the tradition in 2010.
Proceeds from the LC COPS reverse draw and golf tourney fund all activities, so children’s admission is always free.
“I want to thank you all for organizing such a great event for the kids!!” posted Stacey Lyn. “My daughter and I enjoyed every part of it! Thank you for all you guys do!!”
