LIVINGSTON COUNTY — Livingston County Sheriff Thomas Dougherty was sworn in as the Counties 50th Sheriff.
The ceremony, held at the Genesee River Hotel in Mount Morris, was jammed packed with friends and family members as he was sworn in by Federal Judge Richard Wesley.
“If there was any ever question that the people of Livingston County care about their law enforcement, I think its proven here tonight,” said Sheriff Dougherty. “I thank you all, and I know the term is so overused, and I wish there was something more special then the term thank you.”
Sheriff Dougherty was introduced by local lawyer Kevin Van Allen, who worked on his campaign, as well as New York State Senator, Pat Gallivan, Judge, Ronald Cicoria, and was sworn in buy Federal Judge Richard Wesley.
“You will see more of an up-tic with what we are doing because we are going to make it more public,” said Dougherty. “It’s time to bring the department together and move forward.”
Sheriff Dougherty replaces Sheriff York who retired after serving as Sheriff for 24 years.
