LIMA – Level 1 sex offender Jason Savoy, 36, of Lima, was arrested last Thursday after he was discovered to be in possession of a cell phone with internet capabilities, and an email account.
Under New York State law, no registered sex offender shall go more than 10 days without registering any change of address, internet accounts or internet access; or status of enrollment or employment or residence at an institution of higher education.
Savoy has been charged with Failure to Register and Verify, a Class D felony for which the maximum penalty is seven years in prison. He was brought up on the same charges in 2014 after failure to update his home address.
Savoy was arraigned at Livingston County Jail before Town of Groveland Justice Jeanean Love. He was remanded to the custody of the Sheriff with no chance of bail.
