The violent felony charge is the result of an investigation by the Sheriff’s office which began in May 2022, when a Livingston County resident reported a sexual offense that was committed against her child in the Town of Lima. In Feb. of 2023, the Livingston County Sheriff’s office issued a warrant for Cerone’s arrest. When arrested, Cerone was turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for arrest processing and pre-arraignment detention.
The District Attorney’s Office was contacted regarding bail due to the felony level charge. It was recommended that Cerone be held for arraignment in the Livingston County court. Cerone was later arraigned in Livingston County court by Judge Noto, who remanded Cerone to the custody of the Sheriff in lieu of $250,000 cash or a $500,000 bond.
The Livingston Count Public Defender’s Office was present to represent and defend Cerone at the court arraignment. The Livingston County District Attorney’s Office was notified and was present at the court proceeding to represent the people.
The investigation was handled by members of the Criminal Investigations Division. Assisting with the investigation was the Sheriff’s Office Victim Specialist, the Livingston County District Attorney’s Office, the Livingston County Department of Social Services and the Bivona Child Advocacy Center.
