Livingston County’s is looking to hire a Senior Typist, Grade 7 with a rate of pay: $ 15.67 for the County’s District Attorney’s Office.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: The work involves the performance of moderately difficult clerical duties involving the full-time or substantial part-time operation of a typewriter and/or computer keyboard. The work is performed under general supervision permitting the exercise of independent judgment in carrying out details of the work. Specific instructions may be given for new or unusual assignments. Direct supervision may be exercised over the work of one or more clerical employees. Employees in this class may be assigned to work on word processing equipment to produce acceptable copy by manipulating an alphanumeric keyboard and reviewing information on a display screen. An employee in this class may be required to undergo training to develop and/or increase skills in the operation of this type of equipment. In the County service, this employee is primarily involved in overseeing a complex clerical procedure which may not involve steady or recurring supervisory responsibilities. A Senior Typist does related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must meet all requirements for one of the following qualification options in order to be approved for examination and/or appointment:
Qualification Option # 1 Possession of a high school diploma or equivalency diploma. q N.A. Any present permanent Livingston County employee in the above stated title who wishes to be considered for a transfer to this vacancy or any person who meets the qualifications and wishes to be considered for this provisional vacancy must file an application within ten (10) calendar days of the above announcement date at the Livingston County Personnel Office.
An individual who receives a provisional appointment must take the examination for the position title on the next occasion it is offered. In order to be eligible for a permanent appointment to the position, the provisional appointee must pass the exam and be ranked 1, 2, 3, or be tied in score with the individual ranked number 3 of those who are willing to accept appointment to the position.
Even if the provisional appointee is eligible for appointment, the employer may choose another candidate to fill the position on a permanent basis. In the event a provisional appointee is appointed to the position from the eligible list, the appointee will be required to serve a probationary period beginning on the date of appointment from the list.
