GENESEO – A happy crowd gathered Saturday morning to run and walk the Ramon Rocha 5K in support of the Arc of Livingston-Wyoming.
Many well-known community runners came out to run the course, including local speed demon Catherine Staley, 8, who placed 11th overall.
“I wanted to run even more when I saw it was raining,” said Staley. “I like it when it rains.”
Geneseo resident Paul Rellstab, 28, has been training all summer and won the race.
“It’s good to stay in the community,” said Rellstab. “I’m feeling wet.”
The Ramon Rocha 5K is named in honor of SUNY Geneseo professor Ramon Rocha, who helped found the Teresa House in Geneseo, a comfort care ministry for residents nearing the end of terminal illness, as well as a member of the Board of Directors for the Arc of Livingston-Wyoming.
