AVON – Rte. 39 will be closed in Avon due to the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) culvert project.
According to a press release by NYSDOT, starting July 6, the heavily trafficked Route 39 which connects Avon and Geneseo, will be closed for approximately 60 days.
The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) is set to begin work on a project to replace the aging culvert on Route 39 (Wadsworth Avenue,) between Mill Road and Linden Street, in the town of Avon, Livingston County.
Beginning on Wednesday, July 6, a portion of the highway will be closed. A posted detour will direct drivers to take Rtes. 5&20 to Interstate 390 to Route 20A in Geneseo back to Route 39. Local traffic will be permitted to access driveways on either side.
Two culverts on Route 20 were replaced in Caledonia under the same contract earlier this year.
