AVON — Tragedy struck again this week in Livingston County when a guest at a wedding reception was killed crossing the road Saturday afternoon.
According to a press release from Livingston County Sheriff John M. York, a pedestrian was struck on State Highway 15 in the Town of Avon at about 3:40 p.m. Sheriff’s Deputies, Avon Medics, and East Avon Fire Department members responded at the scene.
The pedestrian was struck just south of the East Avon Cemetery, where she was apparently crossing the street after parking at a former garage parking lot.
According to Sgt. Michael Dougherty, a southbound vehicle driven by Kelly Anstey, 45, of Medina, struck Corradina G. Derosa, 77, of Rochester, who was a relative of the groom.
Avon Ambulance transported Derosa to Strong Memorial Hospital, where she died from her injuries. Neither Anstey nor her passenger were injured. Alcohol was determined not to be a factor in the accident.
Deputy Michael Williams and Deputy David Richardson reconstructed the scene to help determine all factors in the accident.
The investigation is on-going at this time.
