AVON — Two Rochester men, who are cousins, have been charged with burglary and grand larceny after allegedly ransacking an Avon home and stealing items valued at over $17,000.
Sam Sides Jr., 38, and Landis Windom, 25, were charged with Burglary and Grand Larceny after being arraigned in Avon Town court. Sides was ordered held without bail, and Landis is being held on $25,000 cash or $50,000 bond.
According to the homeowners, the criminals left their cell phone at the crime scene.
The alleged theft occurred in early July, and after a multiple-agency investigation that included Livingston County Sheriff’s Investigator Thomas Dougherty, Ronald Huff Jr. of the Livingston County Criminal Investigation Division, District Attorney Greg McCaffrey. The alleged criminals were apprehended by U.S. Marshals, with the assistance of the Rochester Police Department.
The stolen goods included several long guns, jewelry, family memorabilia, electronics, U.S. currency and other items.
