WEST SPARTA – A roadside altercation between two people Saturday afternoon led to apparently reckless driving on 390 and a collision with a car hauler, followed by a rollover and the hospitalization of the pair in a gray vehicle.
According to a press release from Livingston County Sheriff Thomas Dougherty, at 1:50 p.m. the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office E-911 center received several calls of a possible domestic dispute, with a person either jumping or being thrown from a gray vehicle on I-390 Northbound at mile marker 26.

While Deputies were en route to that location, the E-911 center received several more calls regarding a gray vehicle traveling northbound at a high rate of speed. At 1:52 p.m., another emergency call was received regarding the same vehicle being involved in a motor vehicle accident where it struck a car hauler and rolled over with injuries and possible entrapment.
Responding Deputies arrived on scene and located the vehicle at Mile Marker 31. The occupants of the vehicle were identified as Sarah Greene, 37, of Wellsville, N.Y. and Bradley Hollenbeck, 34, of Andover, N.Y.
Dansville and Livingston County EMS also responded to the scene. Both Greene and Hollenbeck were transported to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment and evaluation.
During the course of the investigation, it was learned that both of the occupants of the vehicle were involved in some type of altercation on the side of the road, and after the altercation, according to witness accounts, they both reentered the gray vehicle and proceeded north at a high rate of speed, with Greene as driver. The vehicle continued north on I-390 at high rates of speed and it ultimately struck the rear of the car hauler, partially going up the rear of the hauler, and landed on its passenger side. The vehicle then slid on it’s side for several feet, went off the road and came to a rest after rolling over. As a result of the accident and investigation, I-390 Northbound was closed to traffic between Exit 5 and 6 for several hours while Deputies investigated and reconstructed the accident scene.
Greene was ultimately charged with Reckless Endangerment in the Second Degree along with numerous Vehicle and Traffic citations and the investigation is on going with further charges possible as the Sheriff’s Office is assisting State Police AMITY with an investigation with these two subjects as people of interest.
Investigating the incident were Sheriff Dougherty, Chief Deputy Matthew Burgess, Captain Brian Applin (CID), Captain Zeh (Road), Deputy Michael Williams (ID Tech), Deputy Caleb Cutting ( ID Tech), Deputy Ryan Swanson, Deputy Michael Yencer, Deputy Kevin Barrett, Deputy Cartwright, Deputy Michael Wade, Investigator Monster, Sergeant Breu and the State Police.
