GENESEO – Four bands run by college students hoping to start a regional music scene in the Village are currently booked into the newly renovated Riviera Theater for a night of music on Saturday, May 2.
According to SUNY Geneseo student Jessica Beneway, who is helping to organize the event with fellow student Keara Doyle, three of the groups are Soft Cough, Slackjaw, and Exile on Court Street, from SUNY Geneseo, and Mooses from SUNY Fredonia.
“I know these bands are trying really hard to start a music scene,” said Beneway. “The idea is to bring people from not only Geneseo but from out of the area.”
Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. on March 27, with the first act starting at 7 p.m.
“The whole idea is to showcase the venue and guage interest,” added Beneway. “The more people come out, the easier it will be to grow this and include more bands.”
Note: The event was originally scheduled for Friday, March 27.
