SPRINGWATER – A registered sex offender has been rearrested following an investigation by the Investigator Dan Rittenhouse of the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office into his accounts on social media. The man was found to be in violation of the Sex Offender Registration Act (SORA) due to his failure to register his activities on social media.
According to a press release from Sheriff Thomas Dougherty, Robert Loveland, 33, of Springwater, allegedly failed to register his Facebook account with the Sheriff’s Office, which is a violation of SORA. Loveland apparently moved into Livingston County recently and successfully registered this new address with the Sheriff’s Office, but due to solid work by investigators his alleged unregistered Facebook account was discovered.
Investigator Dan Rittenhouse of the Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division apparently learned that Loveland had a Facebook account that was not on file with the New York State Sex Offender Registry. The Court does mandate that all social media sites are listed for all levels of sex offenders.
Loveland was interviewed and then arrested by Investigator Rittenhouse for Duty to Register and to Verify and arraigned in Geneseo Town Court before Judge Houston. Judge Houston remanded Loveland to the custody of the Sheriff on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond. Loveland is currently being held in the Livingston County Jail.
