Last June, Lance Riley, 39, was arrested for felony Rape Second Degree and felony Criminal Sexual Act in the Third Degree and numerous other charges. On Tuesday Judge Robert Wiggins, granted Riley a rare request to switch attorneys. Riley requested a change of attorneys after he requested to defend his case ‘pro se’ during the trial.
“I’m going to indulge you and allow Mr. Stivers to represent you,” stated Judge Wiggins in court.
Joshua Tonra, Livingston County Assistant District Attorney stated that there is currently an offer of 10-years plus 18 years of post release supervision that would run concurrent with his Wyoming County Charges. Earlier this year Riley pled guilty to the rape of a 15-year-old in Wyoming County where he was sentenced to 10-years in prison.
After being charged Riley set up a Facebook page for his defense using the hashtag #InnocentPeopleDontTakePleaDeals and days later took a plea deal
The matter now heads to trial.
