In a letter addressed to the community by Richmond Supervisor Darryl Marshall, it was announced that the Town of Richmond has entered into a Community Solar program, where residents can receive savings generated by solar power, even without having panels on their house. Town of Richmond has chosen Solar Simplified as their “preferred Community Solar Administrator.”
National Grid is the energy provider in the area, and if residents sign up with National Grid to take advantage of solar energy, they can receive credits on their electric bill. People who qualify as low or moderate income, can qualify for a $100 gift card. If they are unsure if they qualify for the gift card, they should contact Solar Simplified.
The savings aren’t automatic. Customers must have an account with National Grid and must sign up by calling (888) 420-9831 or go online to SolarSimplified.com/Richmond.
Town of Richmond applicants get preference for the savings, which are on a first-come-first served basis.
