DANSVILE – All are invited to the formal ribbon cutting and grand opening of the only Main Street art gallery in Livingston County, Dansville ArtWorks Gallery, next weekend.
According to a press release from Dansville ArtWorks, the gallery at 178 Main Street will formally open Saturday, Sept. 5, at 10 a.m. with a ribbon cutting attended by representatives of Senator Catherine Young and Assemblyman Bill Nojay’s offices, as well as Laura Lane of the Livingston County Chamber of Commerce.
“Our board was encouraged to find a permanent location to promote arts of all kinds in Dansville,” said Dansville ArtWroks President Nicole Alioto. “A unique opportunity presented itself at 178 Main, most recently Dansville Stationers’ space, which has been consolidated with Dogwood Trading Company at 176 Main. We are excited to collaborate with Randy and Susan DeMuth.”
The ribbon cutting will be followed by a reception, refreshments and music by harpist Mary Lester until noon, and the gallery will remain open until 3 p.m. All activities are open to the public.
Based on Dansville ArtWorks held a successful temporary gallery during Winter in the Village 2014.
Dansville ArtWorks Gallery will feature 2D and 3D art exhibits, performances showcasing musical and writing talents, art sales (consigned and exhibited), art supplies, and workshops in Vita’s Garden of Inspiration named in memory of Vita Catapano Magill through a generous donation from her children.
The gallery will soon have open studio times and hosting events for other organizations.
The inaugural exhibit will include artwork by Taylor Rapp, DAW’s first recipient of its student art award. Dansville ArtWorks is also participating in Kidding Around Downtown on Sept. 5, and children may complete a craft activity for $1 donation in Vita’s Garden of Inspiration 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Beginning the following week, the gallery will be open Thursdays from noon to 6 p.m., Fridays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Payment by credit or debit will be accepted. Special requests for art supplies are welcome.
