YORK – A Retsof family is reaching out for help in getting their father back home from North Carolina after he suffered heart failure and had to be mercyflighted to a Virginia hospital.
According to a GoFundMe page set up by the family, David Farruggia Sr. was on vacation in The Outter Banks in North Carolina on Sept. 4 when he suddenly suffered congestive heart failure and had to be rushed by helicopter to a hospital in Norfolk, VA.
“They are saying he will be able to travel in a couple of weeks,” said David Farruggia Jr. on the GoFundMe page. “A Medivac service will be able to bring him home to begin the healing process, and be closer to his family. Unfortunately, the service will cost $5,800 and his Insurance will not cover this.”
The family asks for any help possible to help bring him home.
The GoFundMe page was set up on Sept. 25 with a fundraising goal of $7,000. The page has generated $610 in the past 12 days.
