DANSVILLE – Remax Hometown Choice will be sending their hot air balloon to give a personal visit and possibly the ride of a lifetime to an elderly local resident at her IRA home, which is located next to Cedar Court intermediate care facility for children.
Debbie Lill, of Dansville, asked the organizers of the New York State Festival of Balloons if they could inflate a balloon near her elderly mother’s Independent Residence Assistance (IRA) home since she always loves when the balloons fly high over the neighborhood every year, but she is in poor health this year.
“Our balloon pilot Carroll Teitsworth actually went out and looked at the yard, but it was too small to inflate the balloon there,” said Andrew Kachaylo, Principal of Remax Hometown Choice. “He saw that the yard for Cedar Court had space, and the staff said they’d be happy to have us inflate there.”
Kachaylo added that whether anyone gets a ride will depend on the wind that day.
“It’s so wind dependent, the balloon is 75 feet high which is like a three-story building,” said Kachaylo. “But it’s such a great opportunity. Everybody loves balloons. Every kid will smile when they see the balloon go up.”
The inflation is planned for Tuesday, Sept. 1.
