GENESEO — A new comic book store, League of Comics, has officially opened at 74 Main Street, previously Joe’s Comics. The new manager is as optimistic for the future of his store as he is passionate about reading, storytelling, and artwork.

According to Soren Thomas, the new manager at League of Comics, his location is ideal for selling to college students, as it is just a short walk up Bank Street from the SUNY campus. At 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, he was on campus meeting the students of the Geneseo Area Gaming Group (GAGG), talking about his vision to host special events at his store.
“As the son of an English professor, I love everything about reading,” said Thomas. “The Flash, Dr. Fate, those were the comics I grew up reading as a kid. I just love them. I’m also an artist by nature, so sometimes I’ll pick up a comic with great art even if the story isn’t great. And sometimes I’ll pick one up for a really good story if the art is not great.”
Thomas’ connections in the business of all things comics gives League of Comics incredible potential for growth, and makes his store the place to be if you want to order the latest editions of comic books across the country. According to Thomas, a powerhouse national-level comic books company, Diamond, sends a monthly catalog of the latest comic books, toys, games, and other merchandise to a mere 30 distributors in the country, and his store is one of them.
“There’s a checklist in the back of these catalogs,” Thomas pointed out. “Just check what you want and when you want it, and I can order it for you.”
League of Comics will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, and from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesdays.
