AVON – Red noses or not, all are welcome to join in the Reindeer Games this year to run the 5K, to be followed by the resurgence of the traditional candle luminaries on sidewalks and curbs throughout the village.
According to event organizer Michael Miron, the second annual Reindeer Games 5K will kick off at the Avon Driving Park at 1 p.m. on Dec 20, and run through the fitness trails at the Downs.
“I’m hoping for snow so people can run, limp, snowshoe, or ski it,” said Miron hopefully. “Santa will be in attendance as well.”
The 5K will be followed by caroling in the village starting at 5:30 p.m., and beautiful candle luminaries to be lit at 6 p.m. All will then meet at the circle in the village by 7 p.m. for desserts courtesy of Sweet Arts Bakery and the Cake Place.
Last year, at the first ever Reindeer Games, 73 people ran about 100 attended.
Miron said that money raised from the event will fund the luminaries for next year.
The Avon Soccer Club, Allstate Insurance, Village of Avon, Avon Boy and Cub Scouts, Sweet Arts Bakery and the Cake Place all pitched in to make the night possible.
