Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty advises the Sheriff’s Office and local police agencies will be participating in the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee’s STOP-DWI Crackdown Enforcement on eight occasions between October 1, 2020 and September 30, 2021.
The first Crackdown Enforcement for 2020-2021, will take place in Livingston County from October 30 to November 1, 2020 to coincide with the Halloween holiday. Sheriff’s Deputies and Officers from the Avon Police, Mt. Morris Police and New York State Park Police at Letchworth will be participating with the focus on reducing crashes on highways and removing drunk and/or drug impaired drivers from our Livingston County roadways.
Livingston County along with other counties in New York State will participate in the STOP-DWI Crackdown Enforcement program by utilizing funds awarded the New York State STOP-DWI Foundation.
“Halloween time is set to be much different this year but that does not negate the need for proactive safety on our roads,” stated Sheriff Dougherty. “Please help us keep the motoring public safe, as well as pedestrians, by having a plan for a safe ride home if you choose to consume alcohol. If you are a user of illegal drugs, please know that we have many Deputies certified as Drug Recognition Experts in our county and are doing our part to ensure sobriety in all forms when behind the wheel.”
