GENESEO – An upstate NY artist has set the Crickets Coffee Co. as the stage for her rustically beautiful photo show, titled Fresh Coat of Paint.
The photos in Jenn Gremer’s display, which now hangs at the coffee shop at 53 Main Street, feature her images of broken down and abandoned places.
“The inspiration for this series first came from abandoned photographs that I adopted and gave a ‘refreshed’ look, adding my own flare to the images that had been sold and removed from their original owners,” says Jenn Gremer. “I appropriated this concept to this show. By taking pictures of the forgotten and framing them, you cannot ignore them anymore. by framing them in their own wood proves that these buildings are still usable, they can be repurposed, not just torn down and thrown away. There are many metaphors that can come out of this show, but take what you will away from it. I hope you can see the beauty in these images as I do.”
Jenn’s work will be on display at the Crickets Coffee Co. located at 53 Main Street in Geneseo. Her show started June 1 and will run until July 31 during the open hours of the cafe.
“I would like to thank so many people for helping make this show possible and even more people for supporting my photography.” said Gremer. “John and Betsy Gremer, thank you for your support and time. Dan Jagodzinski, thank you for all the advice and help with the framing. The printer, framer, and glass man for I wouldn’t have been able to do this alone. Lastly, Renee Livingston, for helping me with the framing and host this space for my photographs, without it I could not have had this show.”
