LIVINGSTON COUNTY – The Livingston County Chamber of Commerce issued a warning on Wednesday that a phone scam is impersonating their office trying to get information on local businesses.
According to Laura Lane, President of the Chamber, the scammers are contacting businesses saying that they need to update their databases.
“I am reaching out as a courtesy to alert you that one of our members has contacted us indicating that someone is calling businesses saying they are representing the Livingston County Chamber of Commerce and asking for information to update their databases,” said Lane. “They are short and curt and are most definitely NOT REPRESENTING the Livingston County Chamber of Commerce.”
Lane added that the representatives from the Chamber are Elissa Leuer, Director of Tourism & Marketing; Jan Keane, Member Services Coordinator; Sarah Quinlan, Member Benefits and Program Associate; and Brandon Gaylord, Tourism Marketing Associate.
Lane added that members of partner companies will occasionally contact local businesses.
The GeneseeSun.com is not a partner of the Livingston County Chamber of Commerce.
Lane asks anyone who receives a suspicious call from someone claiming to be with the Chamber to reach out to the Chamber’s office.
“If you ever question a call you receive from someone that says they are representing the Chamber, please do not hesitate to reach out to us ASAP at (585) 243-2222,” said Lane.
