GENESEO – Geneseo Police have found that an underage girl who was rushed to the hospital on Saturday, Feb. 21, for alcohol poisoning was illegally given the alcohol at the Phi Sigma Xi fraternity house at 72 Center Street and another house on 52 Court Street as part of a fraternity date party, that being the same fraternity house where ‘PHIG’ brother Alex Davis, 20, died from a cocktail of cocaine and fentanyl.

According to a press release from Geneseo Police Chief Eric Osganian, Victor Lazarte, 19 of Geneseo, was arrested last Tuesday, Feb. 24, for Unlawfully Dealing with a Child after the girl was found at her residence hall in an extremely intoxicated state on Feb 21, and taken to NOYES Memorial Hospital for emergency treatment.
“We were actually already a the ‘PHIG’ house for a noise violation, and were in the process of interviewing another one of the brothers, when we got the call for the intox female,” said Chief Osganian. “It is just sad because even after the loss of a member due to drug abuse, there is clearly still a problem there.”
Allegedly, Lazarte provided alcoholic beverages to an underage female at 72 Center Street and at 52 Court Street as part of the date party. An investigation was then started to find out where she obtained the alcohol.
Lazarte is scheduled to appear in Geneseo Village Court in April.
