LIVINGSTON COUNTY — On Friday June 26 the Patriot Guard will be passing through the County as they escort the remains of soldiers 6 soldiers from Buffalo to the Bath National Cemetery.
The Patriot Guard will be escorting the remains of the soldiers as part of the Veteran Recovery Program (VRP) which identifies and inters the unclaimed cremated remains of Veterans through the joint efforts of private, state and federal organizations; to provide honor and respect to those who have served this country, by securing a final resting place for these forgotten heroes.
“We encourage you – citizens, veterans’ organizations, students, law enforcement, businesses, first responders – to assemble along the escort route to respectfully pay tribute to these American heroes as we complete the promise our country made to them so long ago,” stated Don Higgins, Senior Ride Captain for the area. “They are forgotten no longer.
At least 6 soldiers will be escorted to their final resting place where they will then receive interment with full military honors.
For those wishing to show their support and respect to the soldiers the June 26th escort will enter Livingston County at approximately 10:15 on Rte. 20A, travel through the Village of Leicester to Rte. 36, through Mt. Morris, and to Rte. 408 & 63 to the Hampton Corners staging area.
The full escort of these Veterans will leave the Hampton Corners staging promptly at 11:30, travel back to the Village of Mt. Morris, and proceed south on Rte. 36. The procession will then travel south on Rte. 36, through Sonyea and on to Dansville, where we will enter I-390 at Exit 5.
