Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports the arrest of a Dansville NY resident on a felony criminal contempt charge following an investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.
On November 23rd 2020 at about 09:25 am Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a business on East State Street in the Village of Mount Morris for the report of a violation of an order of protection. The caller advised the responding Deputy Sheriff that on November 21st 2020, while at her residence in the Town of Groveland, she received a communication from a male subject that she had obtained an order of protection against.
The investigation alleges that 25 year old Adam G. Webster communicated with the victim via social media after an order of protection was issued by the Livingston County Family Court prohibiting Webster from having any contact with her. It is further alleged that Webster had previously been convicted of the crime of Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree on three separate occasions between April of 2018 and March of 2020.
On March 3, 2021 Sheriff’s Investigator Josh Monster arrested and charged Webster with felony Criminal Contempt in the First Degree. The charge was a felony due to Webster’s previous Criminal Contempt convictions.
Webster was turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention as the offense did qualify for pre-arraignment detention under the NYS Justice Reform Act. The District Attorney’s Office was contacted in regards to bail due to the felony level charge. It was advised that Webster should be remanded on $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond.
Webster was later arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part (LC-CAP) at the Livingston County Jail before Mount Morris Judge David Provo. The Judge did remand Webster to the custody of the Sheriff being held on $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond.
Assisting with the investigation was Deputy Bob Holt of the Patrol Division.
