AVON — A vehicle traffic stop that is part of Operation Safe Interstate on I-390 resulted in the discovery of a rolling drug store of illegal narcotics.
According to a press release from Livingston County Sheriff Thomas Dougherty, Brian Treusdell, 34, of Cuba NY, and Cheyann Koontz, 23, of Friendship NY, were busted on drug related charges after a traffic stop near I-390 in Avon.
Deputy Shawn Whitford conducted a road side investigation, Treusdell was found to be in possession of two bags of crack cocaine, 35 bags of heroin and a hypodermic instrument. Koontz is alleged to have been in possession of marijuana, Suboxone and a hypodermic instrument.
Treusdell was charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of Controlled Substance in the Third Degree and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree, Criminal Possession of a Hypodermic Instrument, and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the Second Degree.
Koontz was charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree and three counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree, Criminal Possession of a Hypodermic Instrument and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana.
Treusdell and Koontz were later arraigned in Avon Town Court. Both were remanded to the custody of the Sheriff in lieu of $3,000 cash bail or $6,000 secured bond. Treusdell and Koontz are scheduled to appear in Avon Town on August 26, 2015 at 1:00 p.m.
The investigation and arrest were handled by Deputy Shawn Whitford, alongside Deputy Brittany Smyder, Deputy Connor Sanford and Deputy William Clarke, all of the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office.
