GENESEO – A fuel tank fell off of a dump truck Friday afternoon, spilling fuel onto the shoulder of 20A near I-390.
According to first responders on scene, a roughly estimated 50 gallons of fuel leaked from the tank but did not get into surrounding soil or water.
The truck driver apparently came to a stop quickly after the tank fell, at about 12:50 p.m. The spill area was contained to the shoulder of the road.
At the time of the spill, the truck was headed south on 20A towards Geneseo and was between Exit 8 on 390 and St. Timothy’s Lutheran Church.
Firefighters were able to quickly contain the fuel with absorbent sand.
First responders allowed traffic to remain open during the cleanup.
Firefighters with Geneseo Fire and Ambulance responded to the scene alongside NYS Police.
