GENESEO — Another political campaign is gathering momentum, and this time it’s a judge campaigning in the region: Judge Scott Odorisi, who is campaigning for State Supreme Court Justice in the 7th Judicial District, was in Geneseo speaking with small business owners.
The Seventh Judicial District consists of Monroe, Cayuga, Livingston, Ontario, Seneca, Steuben, Wayne and Yates counties. The elected term is 14 years.
Odorisi, 44, a Democrat, is currently a presiding judge in Rochester City Court and in the Town of East Rochester Court, with over 14 years of law experience.
“I’m very familiar with the cultural differences and the variety of backgrounds in this district,” said Odorisi. “I not only understand one side of the bench but the other as well. Going through the legal system can be a very traumatic experience for people.”
Odorisi cited his experience, but he also talked about his family and his proud ties to McQuaid Jesuit High School.
If the election comes down to toughness, Odorisi should do well in this election. He recently completed the Lake Placid Ironman competition. When he was just a mile into the 112-mile bike ride he was entangled in a crash that happened in his immediate path, and he suffered a torn labrum in his shoulder that would later require surgery. He was able to complete the grueling event anyway. The Ironman also included a full-length marathon distance run that he completed despite the injured arm.
