New York State Police arrested a driver in the Town of Bath for driving while impaired by drugs eastbound on Interstate 86 on Wednesday August 7th, at 11:30 am.
Steuben County 911 reported to police that a vehicle was driving erratically in the Town of Wheeler, then to Prattsburg and then back to the Town of Bath before getting on the highway. The driver of the vehicle, Thomas Aldrich, age 29 of Horseheads, was unable to tell police where he was coming from and said he was on his way to Pine Valley in Elmira but thought he would stop in Bath to go to Taco Bell. Aldrich was unable to complete roadside sobriety checks and police found a baggy of crystal meth on the rear passenger floor board. He was arrested at the Bath station for operating a motor vehicle impaired by drugs and criminal possession of a controlled substance and issued V & T tickets. He was arraigned and sent to the Steuben County Jail in lieu of $2,000 cash or $4,000 bond.
